Gianluca Scamacca was not called up for West Ham’s friendly against Dagenham & Redbridge today and social media posts from the Italian striker and his girlfriend suggest he may leave the Hammers for Roma soon.
Scamacca was dropped for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, sparking speculation of an imminent move to the Stadio Olimpico.
According to Calciomercato.com, Scamacca had posted a picture with an hourglass emoji on Friday, suggesting that there could be developments regarding his future soon. It was followed by an Instagram story from his girlfriend Flaminia Appolloni on Saturday, published minutes after West Ham had announced their squad for today’s friendly.
The picture showed the pair hand in hand with a message in Italian: ‘So happy, I love you.’ As per Calciomercato.com, West Ham have agreed to send Scamacca out on loan with an obligation to buy tied to Roma’s qualification for the Champions League next season.
Tiago Pinto is reportedly negotiating fees for the striker’s one-year loan and the potential option or obligation to buy in 2024. Scamacca said earlier this month that Rome was his ‘home’ and that playing under José Mourinho would be a dream.
