Tottenham Hotspur have activated a clause to extend the contract of forward Son Heung-min by an additional year, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.
The 32-year-old South Korean international joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has since become a club legend, scoring 169 goals in 431 appearances across all competitions.
"Brilliant," exclaimed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou. "Son has enjoyed an extraordinary career at this club. He's been a pivotal figure over the past decade, making a significant impact both at Tottenham and in the Premier League. We're delighted to extend his stay."
Postecoglou emphasized the club's ambition: "The goal is to ensure Son concludes his Tottenham career with some silverware."
Son, a key member of the Tottenham side that reached the Champions League final in 2019 (losing to Liverpool), is yet to secure a trophy with the club.
This contract extension announcement comes ahead of Tottenham's crucial Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool at home on Wednesday.
Currently, Spurs sit 12th in the Premier League table.
