Sport- und Schwimmverein Jahn Regensburg e. V. Also called SSV Jahn Regensburg, Jahn Regensburg, SSV Jahn or simply Jahn is an German football club that is based within Regensburg, Bavaria. The club was founded on a gymnastics team that was founded in 1886 under the name Turnerbund Jahn Regensburg which took its name from Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, whose gymnastics ideas significantly affected German sport during 19th-century. The department of football was established in 1907.
The footballers quit from their club of parent in 1924 and joined Sportbund Jahn Regensburg, in 1934 they joined two additional sports clubs, Sportverein 1889 Regensburg and Schwimmverein 1920 Regensburg and then Sport- und Schwimmverein Jahn 1889 Regensburg that is today referred to in the media as SSV Jahn 1889 Regensburg with the department's boxing, athletics and handball, gymnastics, futsal and kendo, as well as nine-pin bowling. The football team split in 2000 and is now known as SSV Jahn Regensburg.

The 1934 merger to create SSV Jahn Regensburg strengthened the football team however, it mostly resulted in marginal results. The team was unable to make it to 1927 in the Bezirksliga Bayern, coming second as the club's best performance in 1930. The Gauliga Bayern which was one of the 16 top divisions that were created as part of the restructuring of German football during the rule of the Third Reich in 1933, Jahn was only around for two seasons before being eliminated in 1935. The club was reinstated in 1937. their greatest results were consecutive third-place finishings in 1939 and 1938 following which they sat in the middle of an uncompetitive side in the mid-to-lower table.
The club was a part of the time between close of World War II and the creation of the Bundesliga in 1963, as the "yo-yo team" that bounced across both the Oberliga Sud division and second division. Regensburg began their career within the 3rd division, before moving back in the Regionalliga Sud (II). In the late 1970s, the team was struggling and by the close of the decade, they were an fourth and third division team. They even played three seasons in the Landesliga Bayern-Mitte (V) in the latter part of the 1990s.
The team's football team disbanded to form an independent club. They they were joined by players of SG Post/Sud in 2002. Regensburg has been able to recover to a degree and played for regional leagues like the Regionalliga Sud (III) since at the beginning of the millennium, with one game in 2. Bundesliga in 2003-04. However, the club had to face financial challenges and nearly avoided bankruptcy in the year 2005. After falling into the 4th division Oberliga Bayern in 2005-06 Jahn won the top spot in the following season, and was again promoted in 2006 to Regionalliga Sud. In the wake of a restructuring of leagues, Jahn needed to finish 10th or higher for a chance to be at the top of the division which is now called the 3. Liga. Jahn struggled to make it to the top but finished ninth at the end and earned access to the new.
The club started for its initial two years in the 3. Liga near the zone of relegation. However, it after that it progressed to the point where it finished third in the 2011-12 season and qualified to play Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC in the promotion round of the 2. Bundesliga. The draw at 1-1 in Regensburg and 2-2 in Karlsruhe brought Jahn back to the second division after eight years, as per the the rule of away goals.
Jahn Jahn ended up last on the second. Bundesliga in 2012-13, and was moved back into the 3. Liga and finished 11th in 2013-14. In 2014-15 , they were third in the three. Liga and were then sent back in the Regionalliga. The following season, they secured the top team at the top of the Regionalliga Bayern and faced the Regionalliga Nord champions VfL Wolfsburg II in the play-offs. The club beat Wolfsburg II 2-1 on aggregate and was then promoted to third-level in the season 2015-16. Another excellent season was followed by the 3. Liga and saw Regensburg coming in third. Similar to 2012 the league, they were promoted through the play-offs, beating 1860 Munich 3-1 on aggregate.

SSV Jahn Regensburg II (or SSV Jahn Regensburg Amateure) was a team that played one season as a team in the south division of Amateurliga Bayern in 1962-63, the final year of the league's division into regional divisions. The eleventh position in the league did not suffice to make it into the single division league that was being created and the team did not join the newly formed Landesliga Bayern-Mitte.
A long time within the amateur lower divisions was followed until 2002 after which the merger with the premier team and SG Post/Sud Regensburg allowed for the reserve team to join Post's team in the Bayernliga which the team was in play from 2002 to the year 2006. The year 2006 saw the team was relegated, which meant they had to go down one level and ended up finishing eleventh. After three seasons of average performance The team became an again a contender for promotion and finished second in 2010-11 , only to lose the promotion round to SpVgg Bayern Hof in the promotion round.
The end in the season 2011-12 the club was able to qualify directly to play in the newly-expanded Bayernliga after placing second in Landesliga.
