The Comoros national football team is the representative of the Comoros in international football . It is managed by the Comoros Football Federation. The team was established in 1979. It joined in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2003 and was an FIFA member in 2005. Comoros were selected for their first major tournament in 2021 following their draw with Togo guaranteed them their place at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The national team of football from the Comoros began their journey in 1979 at the Indian Ocean Island Games. They were the only game they played prior to qualifying for 2009. Arab Nations Cup in 2006. The two games are their very first games that received full FIFA recognition. They also had the victory of 4-2 against Djibouti. In 2007 Comoros first applied for qualification to qualifying for the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations for the 2010 tournaments. They was eliminated in the first round by 2-10 to Madagascar.
In the 2017 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October of 2015 Les Coelacantes advanced past the first round for the first time when they beat Lesotho by a goal away after two draws. Since then, the results have steadily improved, including home victories in the face of Botswana, Mauritius and Malawi in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
On November 14, 2019, Comoros opened their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign with a 0-1 victory against Togo the first time they had a home win in a major qualifying match. Comoros would then get into the final event, their first major event since they joined FIFA.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Ahmed Mogni scored a brace for Comoros in their 3-2 victory in their group match against Ghana as the BBC called "one of the most shocking events during Nations Cup history".
