Liverpool star is targeting a second Premier League record for Matchweek 1 goals, but who will he face?
As Premier League clubs await their fixtures for the 2023/24 season, which will be revealed at 09:00 BST this Thursday, they will hope to avoid facing Mohamed Salah first up on the opening weekend.
Salah has scored in all six of his season openers with Liverpool, a Premier League record, with no other player netting in more than four successive Matchweek 1 fixtures. Salah has eight goals in total in the first round of fixtures, a record that he shares with Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.
The big question is who the Egyptian will be facing when he attempts to move out in front and become the first player to score nine or more. Salah's first Matchweek 1 goal came on his Premier League debut for Liverpool, when he netted against Watford in August 2017.
He followed that up with strikes against West Ham United in 2018 and Norwich City in 2019, before getting a hat-trick against Leeds United in 2020. Another goal against Norwich came in 2021, before he struck an 80th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Fulham at the start of last season.
