Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos reportedly left Manchester United annoyed by swiftly snubbing their offer of a one-year contract.
The World Cup-winning defender became a free agent at the start of the summer after severing ties with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. He spent a long time without a club, with the 37-year-old Spaniard left to mull over his options.
A lucrative approach from Saudi Arabia was knocked back, while The Sun claims that Ramos also turned down the chance to pen a £73,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford. United made their play for the veteran centre-half as the summer transfer wound down and they found themselves without the injured Raphael Varane.
Ramos immediately rejected United’s advances, much to their disgust, with the Premier League heavyweights left short in the defensive department as a result. Instead of heading to England, the former Los Blancos captain has opted to return to his roots at Sevilla.
