Manchester United suffered a disappointing 0-2 defeat against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in their latest Premier League match. The result left United fans frustrated as Erik ten Hag’s side struggled to find their rhythm against a well-organized Palace team.

The game started with United dominating possession, but their lack of sharpness in front of goal cost them dearly. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, remained disciplined in defense and waited for counter-attacking opportunities. Their patience paid off in the 25th minute when Joachim Andersen scored a stunning volley from the edge of the box, leaving Andre Onana helpless.

Despite going behind, Manchester United failed to respond effectively. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes attempted to create chances, but Palace’s defensive duo of Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen stood firm. United’s attacking play looked predictable, with little movement off the ball to trouble the well-drilled Palace defense.

The second half saw little improvement from the Red Devils. They continued to dominate possession but lacked creativity in the final third. Crystal Palace took advantage of United’s struggles and sealed the game in the 72nd minute. A quick counter-attack led to Odsonne Édouard calmly slotting the ball past Onana to make it 2-0.

Old Trafford fell silent as United fans watched their team struggle to break down a resilient Palace side. Ten Hag made substitutions, bringing on Alejandro Garnacho and Mason Mount, but the changes did not bring the desired impact.

This defeat raises more questions about United’s consistency this season. They have struggled in recent weeks, with key players failing to deliver. Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat were unable to control the midfield battle, allowing Palace to dictate the tempo.

For Crystal Palace, this victory was a statement performance. Roy Hodgson’s men executed their game plan perfectly, defending compactly and punishing United on the counter. The win moved them up the Premier League table, while United slipped further behind their top-four rivals.

With mounting pressure on Ten Hag, United must bounce back quickly in their next fixture. Otherwise, their hopes of challenging for silverware this season could fade away sooner than expected.
