Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos eyes revamping the capital club’s forward group. One name linked to the French giants is Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.
The 25-year-old is a free agent once his contract expires on June 30. As a result, it would make sense for Campos and Co. to secure the player. However, they’ll face competition for Thuram’s signature.
German media outlet Bild reported on Thursday that Manchester United might compete with Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan to sign the France international. Thuram has appeared in 30 matches in all competitions for the Bundesliga side, where he’s scored 16 goals and registered six assists this 2022-23 season.
If AC Milan remains out of fourth place and doesn’t have UEFA Champions League football for the 2023-24 season, perhaps that might take them out of the race to sign Thuram. As a result, the race for the Frenchman could come down to Manchester United and PSG. At Old Trafford, Thuram will have to wait and see how the forward position shapes out to see if he’ll be a guaranteed starter.
Meanwhile, at PSG, Thuram has shown to play alongside Kylian Mbappe on the France national team and perhaps the 24-year-old could be what tilts the race in the capital club’s favor. The Ligue 1 side is also reportedly linked to Thuram’s brother, OGC Nice’s Khéphren Thuram, so uniting with his brother in Paris could also be enticing.
