Inter Milan suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina in their latest Serie A match, leaving Simone Inzaghi's side frustrated and outplayed. Despite their strong form in recent weeks, the Nerazzurri were completely dominated by their opponents in Florence.
From the very start, Fiorentina showed their intent by pressing high and controlling possession. Inter, known for their disciplined defensive setup, struggled to cope with the home team’s relentless attacks.
It didn’t take long for Fiorentina to break the deadlock. In the 12th minute, Nicolás González capitalized on a defensive error and slotted the ball past Yann Sommer to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The early goal further boosted Fiorentina’s confidence, while Inter looked disjointed.
One of the key reasons for Inter’s poor performance was their inability to control the midfield. Fiorentina’s midfield trio outplayed their counterparts, winning crucial duels and cutting off Inter’s passing lanes.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Nicolò Barella, usually the driving forces in Inter’s attack, were unable to find space or create meaningful chances. Meanwhile, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat dictated the tempo with his precise passing and aggressive pressing.
Inter’s problems worsened in the 38th minute when Fiorentina doubled their lead. A well-worked attack saw Lucas Beltrán receive a clever pass inside the box before calmly finishing past Sommer.
The goal left Inter shell-shocked, and despite some attempts to respond, they rarely threatened the Fiorentina goal in the first half.
In the second half, Inter pushed forward in search of a goal, but their efforts left them vulnerable at the back. Fiorentina took full advantage in the 67th minute when Christian Kouamé finished off a brilliant counter-attack, making it 3-0.
With a comfortable lead, Fiorentina controlled the rest of the match, frustrating Inter with disciplined defending and swift counterattacks.
For Inter, this was one of their most disappointing performances of the season. Their usually solid defense was breached too easily, and their attack lacked creativity. Simone Inzaghi will need to find solutions quickly as they look to bounce back in their next game.
Inter must regroup as they prepare for their next Serie A fixture, while Fiorentina will be full of confidence after this statement victory. Can Inter recover from this setback? Only time will tell.
