Robert Lewandowski has proven time and again that he is one of the greatest strikers the footballing world has ever seen.
With over 600 goals to his name at club and international level, the prolific striker is showing no signs of slowing down even now he is well into his 30s The 2021-22 season alone saw him find the back of the net 50 times across all competitions.
Despite his enormous achievements, ridiculous strike rate, and setting earth-shattering records season after season, the Poland star remains somewhat underappreciated compared to the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. But how many goals has Lewandowski scored in total during his outrageous career at domestic and international level?
Lewandowski has not wasted any time to settle at Barcelona and has started the 2022-23 campaign in typically prolific form for Xavi's side. He notably scored a wonderful hat-trick in his first Champions League match for Barcelona as he relishes the latest chapter of his glorious career and continues to break goal-scoring records for fun in La Liga and the Champions League.
Lewandowski was on the books of Bayern from 2014 to the summer of 2022 after joining from arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. In hindsight, it now seems to be one of, if not the, best bargains of the 21st century, especially considering the levels of transfer fees these days. He enjoyed a history-making, record-breaking, trophy-laden eight years at the Allianz Arena, fuelling an absolute Bayern winning machine that practically won every trophy under the sun.
He had an unbelievable 2019-20 season, peaking with 55 goals in 47 games as the Bavarians went on to win the historic treble: Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and the prestigious Champions League. With the exception of his debut Bayern season, when he "only" tallied 25 goals in all competitions, Lewandowski never scored fewer than 40 goals in a single season in the seven campaigns that followed.
Not only did he turn out to be a beast predator, sheer goal-scoring machine throughout his Bayern career, but he broke records left, right and centre along the way. It was him who performed the unthinkable in a match against Wolfsburg when he scored five goals in nine minutes. It was him who became the first player in Bundesliga history to win five consecutive top scorer trophies in a row, as well as seven outright.
It was him who broke multiple Gerd Muller records in 2021, who it was widely assumed would never be exceeded in German football history. It's hardly a surprise that Lewandowski can also brag about winning the Bundesliga title in all eight seasons he spent at the club, and 19 trophies in all. How many goals did Lewandowski score for Lech Poznan and Znicz Pruszkow?
LEWANDOWSKI AT LECH POZNAN
His move to Lech Poznan took him to the next level. A young Lewandowski had certainly impressed enough to earn his first call-up to the national side, scoring 21 goals in 34 games for Poznan. He also managed to catch the eye of several European clubs thanks to his goal-scoring exploits in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League.
LEWANDOWSKI AT ZNICZ PRUSZKOW
Lewandowski began his career in his native Poland, playing for lower-league outfits such as MKS Varsovia, Delta Warsaw, and Znicz Pruszkow before joining Lech Poznan in June 2008. Of course, he was scoring goals for fun back then as well. At Znicz Pruszkow, he gained various accolades, notably topping the third-tier goalscoring charts, a piece of cake for someone of his quality. He replicated the same feat once the club was promoted to the second division.
With over 130 matches under his belt, Lewandowski is the most-capped Poland player of all time. He also holds the record as Poland's all-time top scorer with 79 goals during his time in the national team, placing him 11th in the record books for most international goals, and only behind Ronaldo, Messi, and India's Sunil Chhetri in the list of top active international goal-scorers.
Indeed, Lewandowski is regarded as a national treasure back in his homeland Poland, not just for his goals but also for his contributions to single-handedly carry his country on the international stage on not one but multiple occasions. He was the driving force behind them making it to the 2018 World Cup finals, scoring no less than 16 goals, and establishing a new European record for most goals scored during qualification. Lewandowski netted three goals for Poland during their Euro 2020 campaign, however the Poles were knocked out in the group stage after coming last in their group.
Aside from bagging numerous winners medals, Lewandowski has also won a high number of individual accolades. The highlight came in the 2019-20 season when he received UEFA Men's Player of the Year award. Otherwise, the striker has also won a staggering number of Golden Boots, both domestically and internationally. He also won the 2021 Ballon d'Or Striker of the Year award, as well as the European Golden Shoe in 2021 and 2022.
