Everton are keen on the idea of making a move to sign Italy international Wilfried Gnonto from recently-relegated Premier League outfit Leeds United this summer according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees, who secured their top flight status at Leeds’ expense on the final day of the 2022-23 season, are said to be aiming to improve their attacking options before the new campaign kicks off in August.
Gnonto, who is currently away with Italy’s youth side at the Under-21 European Championships in Romania and Georgia, impressed in his maiden campaign in the Premier League after joining from FC Zurich last summer. Having only turned 19 in November, Gnotno chipped in with four goals and four assists across all competitions in 2022-23, but after impressing initially under Jesse Marsch, fell massively out of favour when Javi Gracia took over in February.
Despite having joined less than 12 months, it seems unlikely that Gnonto, who has already earned 11 caps for the senior Italy national side, would be willing to spend the 2023-24 season in the second division.
