Cesare Casadei made his Chelsea debut in a pre-season friendly against Wrexham, exciting fans with his clear talent.
The 20-year-old Italian midfielder joined the Blues last year from Inter in a deal worth around €15m, a high fee for a player who never made a first team appearance in the Lombardy capital.
After spending the first half of the season with the Chelsea Under-21 squad, Casadei moved to Reading on loan, where he showed a number of positive signs across his 1111 minutes of Championship action. Chelsea are currently in the United States on their pre-season tour and Casadei was brought along, allowing him to make his debut in a friendly against Wrexham, which the Blues went on to win 5-0.
His passing, progressive play and comfort on the ball impressed Blues supporters, leading to some to call for him to remain in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team for the coming Premier League season.
