Reigning LaLiga champions Barcelona are coming off a successful season under Xavi and he will be hoping their fine performances in 2022-23 will boost their chances of bringing in some big names ahead of the new season.

Lionel Messi was the biggest name who had been linked with a move to Camp Nou after two years at PSG, but the Argentine made the decision to move to MLS instead. Meanwhile, the departure of veteran Sergio Busquets will leave a massive void in Xavi's midfield, with Martin Zubimendi and Ruben Neves believed to be their primary targets.

Manchester City's duo of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are also linked with Barca and it'll be interesting to see whether the reigning Spanish champions can work out a way to sign the players they want with the limited money available to them. In defence, Jordi Alba said farewell to Camp Nou, with Gerard Pique already having done so midway through the 2022-23 campaign. That means Barca are likely to bring in defensive reinforcements, too. New signings summer window

It's been a quiet summer window for Barcelona for now as they have only welcomed back loan stars at this stage. That list of players includes USMNT defender Sergino Dest, as well as French defenders Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet. Antoine Griezmann, meanwhile, formally returned to Barca from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid, only to instantly complete his permanent move back to the capital.

Departures summer window

Barcelona saw two long-time serving servants leave the club, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba calling it a day on their Barcelona careers. Griezmann completed his return to Atletico Madrid after a two-year loan spell, while Trincao joined Sporting CP on a permanent basis after a season on loan.
