Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Davide Frattesi has ruled out a potential move away from Serie A this summer.

The 23-year-old is one of the most sought-after players in the Italian top flight, with no shortage of interest from clubs in the country and across Europe.

Frattesi is destined to exit Mapei Stadium this summer and has been linked with a Premier League move amid interest from Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma and Juventus are keen on keeping him in Serie A, bolstering his reputation as one of the most wanted players in the country.

Despite numerous interest in his signature, Frattesi insists he is happy at Sassuolo but claims he would prefer joining another Serie A team first before moving abroad in the future. It’s always a pleasure to be involved in these rumours, Frattesi said in a press conference (via Football Italia). It means that I’ve done the right things. I must continue like this, with this commitment. Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali will do the rest. I told my agent to tell me nothing and only call if there are important things.

I have an important choice to make. Surely it will also depend on the system. A team that plays nice football with three midfielders would be different from a team playing with two central midfielders. I’ve always gone step by step in my career, starting from Serie C. At least in my head, I need another move to a Serie A club before going abroad. I am convinced I’ll get there sooner or later, but I have to be ready. Frattesi is part of Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad that will face Spain in the Nations League semi-finals on Thursday.
