KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), the reigning Super League champions for an impressive ten consecutive seasons, have further bolstered their squad with the addition of Francisco Geraldes, a 28-year-old Portuguese player and former FC Baniyas athlete from the United Arab Emirates.

Affectionately known as Chico, Geraldes was unveiled through a video on JDT's official social media platform. The seasoned midfielder, who has previously represented Portugal's under-18 and under-21 national squads, is set to replace Leandro Velazquez in the team.

Geraldes brings a wealth of experience, having played for prominent European clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, Eintracht Frankfurt, and AEK Athens in Greece. This announcement marks JDT's second international signing for the upcoming 2024/2025 season, following the acquisition of Syrian talent Jalil Elias.

According to the Transfermarkt website, Geraldes holds a market value of 2.5 million Euros (RM12.72 million), making him the second most expensive player in the Malaysian League after Jalil, who is valued at RM15.2 million.
