With Marcelo Brozovic accepting Al-Nassr and Barcelona officially bowing out of the running, Inter will ask Sassuolo for Davide Frattesi tomorrow.

The situation reached a turning point this evening with two crucial developments.

The first was that Barcelona warned Brozovic they simply “could not compete” with the proposal from the Saudi Pro League, as confirmed by President Joan Laporta to Onze TV. At the same time, the Croatia international accepted the increased bid from Al-Nassr, said to be worth €100m between wages and signing-on fee over the next three years.

Meanwhile, Inter can now invest that sum in Frattesi and a meeting is planned on Friday between directors Beppe Marotta and Giovanni Carnevali. According to Sportitalia, agent Beppe Riso is also set to be present at the encounter in Rimini, where the Italian transfer market will officially open on July 1.

Roma remain interested and have the advantage of Frattesi being a Giallorossi supporter, as well as the club retaining a 30 per cent cut of the sell-on fee and therefore getting a discount. However, once Brozovic completes the €23m move to Al-Nassr, that will provide the funds for Inter to clinch Frattesi. Sky Sport Italia suggest the offer of €23m plus striker Samuele Mulattieri would be acceptable.
