Chelsea pulled the plug on their £20m (€23m/$25m) move for Tyler Adams despite the midfielder completing a medical at the club.

The Blues had been in advanced talks over a deal for the USMNT international but pulled out on Friday leaving the 24-year-old to return to Leeds. Now, the Daily Mail claims the west London outfit ended their pursuit of Adams amid fears about his hamstring injury. The former RB Leipzig man had surgery on the issue in late March, which ruled him out of the rest of last season. His recovery has taken longer than expected and the report states he will be back from injury in around four weeks and ready to play after the September international break.

Adams, who captained the USMNT in last year's World Cup in Qatar, is now left in limbo and will be hoping to land at another Premier League club before the transfer window closes on September 1. Meanwhile, Chelsea have turned their attentions to signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Romeo Lavia from Southampton - much to Liverpool's annoyance.
